The Program was created in 1967, a pioneer on its subject. Its interdisciplinary mandate seeks connections between natural, social, and health sciences admitting to quantitative and qualitative approaches. As a result, it works on broad themes both in terms of scientific and engineering, system design, assessment and management involving people, materials, equipment and the environment. This has supported a variety of studies and projects in many different fields of industry, agriculture, services, public administration and social initiatives. PEP students have the opportunity of gaining a production engineer’s perspective and the qualities of versatility and interdisciplinarity in their graduate passage. The program is organized into two areas: Management & Innovation (GI) and Decision & Management Engineering (EDG).
Management & Innovation studies the processes of generation, diffusion and implementation of innovation in various contexts through interdisciplinary lenses which makes use of qualitative and quantitative approaches. It maintains an evolved portfolio of graduate disciplines and courses, woven with a variety of initiatives, projects and research. It seeks to explore both the complexity and the diversity of its objects, with a particular focus on design, implementation and assessment of intervention projects which serve as fulcra for learning and discovery, addressing contemporary issues material and immaterial productive structuring, cultural organization and institutional change.
