Decision Engineering & Management (EDG) was born from the merger between the areas of Operational Research (PO) and Economic and Environmental Engineering (EEA), and aims to study, model and solve real problems that involve decision making between alternatives of management and planning of complex systems.
The elements of objectivity and rationality inherent to the decision-making processes are valued, without neglecting; however, the subjective elements and organizational framework that characterize the problems.
Environmental problems are studied in a systematic and integrated manner, with social, ecological, technological and economic scope, with a view to promoting sustainable development and technological innovation.
The Area of Decision & Management Engineering (EDG) covers virtually all areas of human activity, with particularly strong links with Production Engineering, in view of its potential to address problems involving the means of production: human beings, materials raw materials, equipment, financial resources and the environment.
